Introduction About Dr. Ben Macdonald

Dr. Ben Macdonald,is a researcher from Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization(CSIRO), Land and Water institute,Australia. His research work is focused on the measurement of greenhouse gases (nitrous oxide, methane and carbon dioxide) from agricultural cropping. the impacts of climate change on water and the environment, principally including:(1)Measurement, modeling and prediction of greenhouse gas and water emissions from rice production systems;(2)Measurement and modeling of nutrient cycling (CNPK) from agricultural production systems and natural ecosystems;(3)Acid sulfate soil management (droughts and sea water inundation);(4)Surface and ground water inactions (quantity and quality).

In this presentation, Dr. Ben Macdonald will provide background about CSIRO and its general research and present an overview of his research projects. These include nitrogen losses in arid zone landscapes, sulfur gas emissions from acid sulfate soils, nitrogen and carbon emissions from sugarcane production systems and a new project in rice production systems of the Mekong Delta.
